Ebay in hunt for TV ad star

eBay has launched a competition to allow one of its users to feature in a TV  campaign next year in the UK. Consumers who buy an item on eBay will be automatically entered into the competition. The online giant will be accepting entries from users until 11/18. The winner of the competition will have their own digital character created, which will feature alongside the existing red, blue and yellow animated figures used in eBay’s advertising.

An eBay spokesman told mad.co.uk the "one-off" TV ad will appear at some point in 2008, but would not confirm exactly when the spot will be broadcast.
"The characters used in the eBay ads represent our community, there is a large cast of characters we can call on," he said. "Ebay has a rich and vibrant community, and the idea of putting one of our users into our ads really brings this to life."
