Emmis sells Rádio Expres to Bauer

Emmis CommunicationsThe Slovakian Hot AC station Rádio Expres has been bought by Germany’s Bauer Media Group from Emmis. Rádio Expres has been the market leader in Slovakia since 2005, has a market share of 20% and 1.5 million listeners per week.


Bauer Media Group already runs radio stations in three countries: Radio Hamburg in Germany, Radio RMF in Poland and 42 stations in the U.K.

Communications Equity Associates International LLP and J. Patrick “Rick” Michaels, Jr., CEA Group’s Chairman and CEO, announced Martin Farmer, Partner, and Carol O’Connor, Consultant, advised Emmis on the sale to Bauer, a publishing and radio group.

Rádio Expres broadcasts from Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and is heard throughout the country. The Bauer Media Group is one of Europe’s leading media companies. The Bauer family has managed the publishing company since its inception 137 years ago.
