Entercom Cares So Much, It Has A New ‘Social Impact’ Chief

Corporate social responsibility is growing in importance for many consumers, and companies across the U.S. are taking action — including some of the biggest broadcast media companies. Entercom Cares is a recently launched platform tied to various community engagement initiatives, and a newly hired VP/Social Impact is set to oversee Entercom Communications’ activities in this arena — and on Capitol Hill.


Starting Jan. 2, 2019, Sarah Harris will serve as VP/Social Impact for Entercom. While the role will focus on community engagement and corporate social responsibility, Harris will also oversee Entercom’s government business practice.

Harris reports to EVP/General Counsel Andrew Sutor and joins Entercom after serving as founder and SVP of INCITE — an Austin-based cause and social marketing firm born out of the Emmis Communications group of radio stations serving the capital of the Lone Star State. Harris created INCITE in September 2011, following a 10-year run with Emmis in Austin that included roles as VP/Community Outreach and, before that, Director of Community Outreach.

Harris’ experience also includes roles as a sales coordinator at WIBC-AM in Indianapolis for Emmis and as a graphics and chyron operator for then-McGraw-Hill owned WRTV-6 in Indianapolis.

Harris in 2017 completed the executive certification program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Sutor calls Harris “a pioneer in cause and social impact marketing, and wholeheartedly believes in the power of media to create positive impact. With her significant experience and expertise in creating and managing social impact programs and campaigns, Sarah will be a terrific addition to our team.”

Harris singled out Entercom for doing “tremendous good in our communities across the country, contributing significant value to important nonprofit organizations each year through public service announcements, fundraising, volunteerism, and more.”

The company’s expanded platform and influential, local connection nationwide, in Harris’ view, provides the opportunity for Entercom to lead on key social impact issues.

Entercom Cares is an enterprise-wide community engagement initiative that elevates and unifies the company’s longstanding commitment to community service. The platform primarily focuses on key causes that matter to the communities Entercom serves, including the environment; the nation’s military community; suicide prevention; pediatric cancer care and related medical needs; as well as civics education and objective, nonpartisan news.
