BOCA RATON, FLA. — The Cleveland-based affiliate relations company founded by Danno Wolkoff and Laura Orkin has been purchased by a fast-growing Gen Media Partners-owned national radio network with offices in New York, Boston and South Florida.
That would be Envision Networks, which will now fade into the annals of radio industry history thanks to its acquisition by Sun Broadcast Group.
With the sale of Envision, Wolkoff, its President/CEO, will become Chief Development Officer at SBG. Orkin will hold the SBG position of VP/Business Operations.
Envision’s roster of 24/7 and syndicated programs is vast. It includes the “MeTV FM” Oldies format born out of Weigel Broadcasting‘s MeTV digital multicast TV network. It also includes such program as Ashley and Brad, The Jared Dillian Show, and Collin Raye’s Rewind Country. Envision vignettes include Paul Shaffer’s Day in Rock. There are also classic programs made anew, such as The Wolfman Jack Radio Show.
Envision also offers radio imaging services and full radio programming opportunities including “BOB FM,” the Adult Hits brand; and represents Lazer Broadcasting in the national rollout of its regional Mexican Radio Lazer network.
All fit well with SBG, which has carved itself a significant chunk of the total market and U.S. Hispanic radio programming, imaging and syndicated show universe. Specifically, Sun offers ad sales representation, syndication and programming support to producers, hosts and other radio networks nationwide. Offerings include the Sun Select RADAR Network, The Michael Baisden Show, 90s with Alfonso Ribeiro, The Jim Brickman Show, Country Fried Mix with DJ Sinister and Spanish-language programming from GLR Networks.
Sun’s acquisition of Envision theoretically creates a Cleveland office, as Wolkoff and Orkin will remain in the city that is home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
“We are thrilled to bring two highly successful radio companies together to create a new network delivering the best in sales, affiliate relations, programming and services,” said Wolkoff. “Working with [SBG president and founder] Jason Bailey and [SBG COO] Julio Aponte over the past years has been a pleasure and to be able to interact with them and the entire SBG team daily is a true honor.”
Orkin added, “I’m excited to enlarge the boundaries of the business that Danno and I started from nothing. We grew our network to over 2500, affiliates while reaching many milestones. We have so much more to accomplish as part of Sun Broadcast Group.”
Bailey commented, “I’m honored to welcome Danno and Laura to the SBG family and excited to build upon the success they have achieved these last 17 years. I want to also thank the executive team at Gen Media Partners who helped make this marriage happen.”
