Pandora Media strong in first day on the NYSE
Someone paid $26.00 per share for Pandora Media stock early in Wednesday's session as the company made its debut on the New York Stock Exchange. By the closing bell the stock was at $17.42 - still up nearly 9% from its IPO pricing.
RBR-TVBR observation: This will be an interesting stock to watch. It is somewhat reminiscent of the debut of the two satellite radio stocks back in the 1990s, except that they each had a plan (however deeply flawed) to get to profitability. More...

Cable may score
10%-12% more upfront
RBR-TVBR observation: The evidence is certainly out there that Pay TV households are on the rise. While the numbers are contested, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) found the number of homes that rely on over-the-air signals for TV programming plummeted last year to 8% of all U.S. households with TVs. Another recent report says Pay TV penetration at the end of 2010 reached 90% in North America. So for the most part, more homes are hooked into cable than ever before and the rates are simply increasing because of it.

$23 million worth of
TV campaign ads unreported in Michigan
RBR-TVBR observation: Voters want accountability on what led to a candidate's election. If it is due to an overabundance of ad placements from sources such as behind-the-scenes interest groups, then it should be public knowledge.
