Everybody wants to get into the act

We knew the DTV transition would be THE hot topic in Washington this year, especially among the usual suspects at the two Commerce Committees. But others on Capitol Hill are inserting themselves into the mix. Today, a new cast of Congressional characters will be asking the questions from a small business angle. Under the wings of the House Committee on Small Business, the Subcommittee on Contracting and Technology is serving up a session called “The DTV Transition and Small Businesses: Small Firms Contributing to a Big Change." Bruce Braley (D-IA) and David Davis (R-TN) are chair and ranking member of the subcommittee; Nydia Velazquez (D-NY) and Steve Chabot (R-OH) head the full committee. Although the full witness list isn’t out yet, the NAB’s DTV people say that Jack Dempsey of CBS WJHL-TV in Tri-Cities TN-VA will be on hand to testify.
