In May 2020, he was named VP of Broadcast Operations at RNN, the over-the-air news and information network based in the New York Tri-State area, born out of the former WTZA-62 in Kingston, N.Y.
Now, this individual with experience at a L.A. UHF station and, before that, at a Tribune property in Portland, Ore., is joining Sinclair Broadcast Group.
John Manzi, who began his career in television as a Telerep AE in January 1996, is now celebrating 25 years in the industry by accepting the position of VP/GM for KSAS-24, branded as “FOX Kansas,” in Wichita.
Manzi will also oversee KSAS, owned by iHeartMedia predecessor Clear Channel Communications from August 1990-March 2008, in addition to the company’s LMA with Mercury Broadcasting Co.-owned KMTW-TV, the MyNetwork TV affiliate serving Wichita.
“John has a unique skillset that combines sales, business and engineering, the perfect combination for a General Manager in today’s environment,” said Rob Weisbord, President of Broadcast and Chief Advertising Revenue Officer at Sinclair. “His history of successfully growing the revenue and share of local stations makes him a great addition to Sinclair and KSAS, and we’re happy to have him join our team.”

Manzi exits RNN, where he had oversight of the systems and operations for the company’s nine television stations, after just 15 months in the position.
Prior to RNN, Manzi served as VP/GM at “The CW Portland,” KRCW-TV, under former owner Tribune Broadcasting. He’s also been Local Sales Manager for KWGN-TV in Denver and National Sales Manager for WUPL-TV in New Orleans.
