FCC ALJ To Ohio LPFM Licensee: Lawyer Up, Or You’re Out


Across the month of June, the fate of a small-town Ohio low-powered FM radio station has generated national attention. Why? It is being scrutinized for the apparent listing of a deceased woman as a board member with 20% voting rights in filings submitted to the FCC outlining the LPFMs leadership structure.

That misrepresentation to the Commission yielded a Hearing Designation Order. Now, the Administrative Law Judge has made it clear that a license revocation hearing cannot proceed unless Marion Education Exchange, licensee of WWGH-LPFM in Marion, Ohio, obtains legal counsel.
