FCC resorts to auction to settle CP competitions


The FCC is getting ready to hold Auction #88, a closed proceeding which will include mutually exclusive applicants for a number of FM station CPs, as well as one FM translator and one AM station. It will be held 7/22/10.

“Auction 88 will resolve pending closed groups of mutually exclusive applications for full-power FM and FM translator construction permits that have been the subject of various Commission and judicial decisions,” wrote the FCC. “Included in these groups are twelve applications that were recently amended to specify operation as commercial broadcast stations. Auction 88 will also resolve mutual exclusivity between applications for a new AM station on 640 kHz in the Terre Haute, Indiana, area.”

The stations, including the number of bidders and the bidding unit, are as follows:

* FM CP Greenwood AR, three bidders, $60K

* FM CP Durango CO, four bidders, $20K

* FM CP Steamboat Springs CO, four bidders, $7.5K

* FM CP Bloomfield IN, five bidders, $20K

* FM CP Traverse City MI, four bidders, $45K

* FM CP Oxford MS, two bidders, $20K

* FM CP Rosendale NY, five bidders, $100K

* FM CP North Madison OH, two bidders, $75K

* FM CP Santa Isabel PR, three bidders, $25K

* FM CP Idalou TX, seven bidders, $75K

* FM CP Shawsville VA, four bidders, $75K

* FM CP New Holstein WI, two bidders, $15K

* FM CP Two Rivers WI, three bidders, $35K

* FM translator CP Coyote CA, two bidders, $15K
