FCC road rules for small CATV carriage released

0

The FCC recently adopted rules limiting the obligations placed on smaller cable systems when it comes to digital television must-carry. The rules are to be in effect for three years with a review to determine whether they need to be extended beyond that term. Systems that are not part of a large national MSO, have less than 2.5K subscribers and less than 552 MHz of bandwidth are exempted from carrying high definition programming during this period. They are still required to pass through a viewable signal. The full FCC Order is available here: http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/FCC-08-193A1.doc
