FCC sour about tower

Rama Communications’ WOKB-AM, serving the Orlando market from Winter Garden FL, has been nailed for $25K for a number of tower violations. Namely, the tower has not been kept clear enough, or painted properly, for the FCC’s tastes (not to mention the tastes of the local aviating community). Additionally, the gate hasn’t been locked effectively, power levels have deviated from the license and the public file has been incomplete and/or unavailable. The FCC said it notified Rama of the problem back in October and has received no response, which hastened an upgrade of the action from a notice of apparent liability to a forfeiture order.

RBR/TVBR observation: We wouldn’t mess around with giving the FCC the silent treatment. The FCC absolutely adores candor, and candor is impossible when you’re going mute.
