MIAMI — A former Univision Communications executive who in March 2017 was tapped as EVP of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has just been promoted to the role of Chairman.
The seat opened up following former Telemundo head Cesar Conde‘s promotion to Chairman of the NBCUniversal News Group.
Rising to the top spot at Telemundo is Beau Ferrari.
He reports to NBCU Television and Streaming Chairman Mark Lazarus, and will remain in the greater Miami area, overseeing Telemundo network, entertainment, sports, news, cable (the Universo channel), global studios and the NBCU O&Os airing Telemundo and digital multicast network TelExitos.
Until joining NBCU, Ferrari spent just over one year as EVP/Corporate Strategy and Development for Univision. Before that, he served as EVP/Operations at Univision, where he was responsible for managing the growth and profitability of the company’s content offerings across its entertainment, news, sports and cable platforms.
Ferrari’s tenure at Univision includes roles as not only interim CEO but also as the GM of English-language millennial and bicultural multimedia entity Fusion. He’s also been the interim co-head of Univision Sports, and chief of staff/special assistant to the CEO. In that role, Ferrari helped manage operations, strategic initiatives and personnel across networks, local television and radio assets, as well as interactive and mobile platforms.
Ferrari has a financial background, and before joining Univision Communications served as the co-founder and partner of private equity investment and management firm Royal Palm Capital Partners. He began his career as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York.
“Beau is a strong leader with extraordinary business acumen and deep media experience across all media platforms and the Hispanic market. During his three years with the company, he has made a tremendous impact as Telemundo became one of NBCUniversal’s fastest-growing businesses,” Lazarus said. “Beau is ideally suited to seamlessly take over the reins of Telemundo and build on its phenomenal success.”
Ferrari added, “It’s an incredible honor to lead the talented team at Telemundo Enterprises, particularly at a time when there is so much momentum in this business. I am excited for the opportunity to take the company to the next level and guide Telemundo’s continued growth.”
Upon joining Telemundo, Ferrari absorbed many of the duties assigned to Luis Silberwasser. Silberwasser exited NBCU in October 2018 after four years as President of Telemundo Networks.
