In February 2018, Ricki Lee and his wife Hanna Maria Kaleta emerged as the proposed buyers for an Upstate New York FM left for dead by its previous licensee. They attracted the FCC’s attention as they are British and Polish citizens, respectively.
Regulatory approval eventually came, and today they operate Border Media and Class A WRGR-FM in Tupper Lake, N.Y.
Border wants more, and to accomplish this goal, it formed a new partnership with another mom-and-pop operator in the region. The station this partnership is grabbing: a silent AM with an FM translator being sold by the New York State Broadcasters Association first leader.
