Forgy Slides Up At Saga

Twenty-four hours after Saga Communications announced that Warren Lada will be retiring, the radio industry pure-play has upped Chris Forgy to the newly created position of SVP/Operations.

Forgy joined Saga in 1995 and served as Director of Sales for the company’s radio stations in Columbus, Ohio, until 2006. He left Saga in 2006 and for the next five years served as a general manager of radio clusters for other broadcast companies, including Wilks and Radio One.

Forgy rejoined the company as President/GM of Saga’s Columbus stations, a position he now vacates.

“Chris is a world class broadcaster whose contributions to Saga will be very important and strategic as he joins us in the corporate office,” said Saga President/CEO Ed Christian.

Forgy added, “I have always dreamed of having this opportunity and am looking forward to working directly with Ed as well as with Saga’s great team of broadcasters who I have had the honor to work with and alongside of for the past 20 years.”

Speaking of Lada, he won’t necessarily be disappearing from the Saga galaxy.

Saga’s Board members now number seven — as Lada gains a seat at the table.

Lada is retiring as COO at the end of June. He began his broadcast career in 1976 and served in various capacities for several broadcast companies before joining Saga in 1991, where he initially served as GM of WAQY-FM “Rock 102” in Springfield, Mass.
