Fox: American Idol dominates Wednesday

FOXNOTE: A18-49 usage was down -4% from 8-10pm last night versus last week.


With a two-hour AMERICAN IDOL, FOX dominated last night in virtually every single key demo and outperformed the #2 network by +109% in Adults 18-49, +124% in Adults 18-34 and +42% in Total Viewers.

·         AMERICAN IDOL: 4.6/13, down -15% from last week’s fast nationals (5.4/14)

o    Season to date, AMERICAN IDOL’s first 12 hours are averaging a 5.3/12, down only -12% from the same period last season (vs 6.0/16). In addition, the show is UP +2% in A18-34 versus last year in the first 12 hours.

o    IDOL was once again the highest rated program of the night in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and all key demos

o    IDOL out-rated #2 show Modern Family by +21% in Adults 18-49 last night

Competition

ABC’s The Middle (2.3/7) was down -8% from its most recent original telecast (2.5/7 on 1/23/13), while The Neighbors (1.8/5) was +13% above last week’s season low (1.6/4). At 9pm, Modern Family (3.8/10) posted its lowest original rating in nearly two years (since 4/20/11) and fell -10% from its previous season low two weeks ago (4.2/11 on 1/23/13). Suburgatory (2.1/5) was up +17% from last week’s season low (1.8/4), while Nashville (1.7/5) fell -11% from its most recent original telecast (1.9/5 on 1/23/13) and matched its lowest original rating to date (excluding clip shows).

Following a repeat Person Of Interest (1.2/4), CBS’ Criminal Minds (2.7/7) matched its series low, down -13% below its latest original telecast (3.1/8 on 1/23/13). CSI (2.4/7) declined -8% from its last original episode (2.6/7 on 1/23/13).

On NBC, Whitney (1.2/4) was down -8% from last week, while Guys with Kids (1.2/3) was up +9%. At 9pm, Law & Order: SVU (1.5/4) was down -12% from last week (1.7/4) and Chicago Fire (1.8/5) dropped -14% week-to-week (vs. 2.1/6).
