Fox scores big in OT

Sunday night’s NFC Championship game was a TV executives dream – tied at the end of regulation play. No football fan could tear themselves away from the television screen in such a circumstance, so Fox had monster ratings for the primetime game that eventually saw the New York Giants defeat the Green Bay Packers in overtime. The overnight numbers from Nielsen gave the game a 31.7 rating and a 46 share – making it the highest rated conference championship in 12 years. Fox also has the Super Bowl this year and the game on February 3rd is sure to be a big draw, despite its Northeast regional tilt. Football fans all over the country will want to see if the New England Patriots will win the Super Bowl to cap off the first perfect season in NFL history – or if that might be spoiled by the Giants.
