Fox wins Tuesday w/ special 90-minute 'American Idol'

FOX aired a special 90-minute AMERICAN IDOL (Top 10 Boys Compete), followed by RAISING HOPE at 9:30pm last night and won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens, Total Viewers and all key demos.


FOX posted the highest rated Tuesday night on any network this season (excluding sports) among Adults 18-49 and outperformed its nearest competitor for the night by +110% in the adult demo (6.5 vs. 3.1 for CBS) and +18% in Total Viewers (18.1 vs. CBS’ 15.4 Mil.).             

AMERICAN IDOL (S):  7.5/21, retaining 95% of last Wednesday’s 8-10pm performance show and up +4% from last Thursday’s telecast AMERICAN IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in all key demos and outperformed the next highest rated program of the night  by +97% in A18-49 (7.5 vs. NCIS’ 3.8) and +11% in Total Viewers (21.3 vs. NCIS, 19.2 Mil.) 

Versus the comparable telecast last year (8.2/23 on 3/9/10), last night’s AMERICAN IDOL last night retained 91% of it Adults 18-49 and 93% of its Total Viewers (vs. 22.8 Mil.)    

** Season to date (vs comparable Most Current), AMERICAN IDOL Season 10 is now tracking even closer to last season’s performance, down only -7% in the adult demo (8.7/23 vs. 9.4/24) and -2% in Total Viewers (24.6 vs. 25.1 Mil.)**

RAISING HOPE: 3.4/9, up +42% from last week’s 9pm telecast RAISING HOPE posted its highest A18-49 and Total Viewers ever and was the second highest rated program of the night in A18-34 RAISING HOPE won its 9:30p half hour in A18-49, A18-34 and Teens and in head to head competition in the half hour outperformed NCIS: LA by +3% in A18-49 (3.4 vs. 3.3). 

Competition
At 8p, ABC’s No Ordinary Family (1.2/4) posted its series low, falling -14% from last week. Following an average V (1.8/5, down -5%), a special 20/20: Charlie Sheen: In His Own Words closed out the night with a 3.2/9.

On CBS, NCIS (3.8/11) and NCIS: Los Angeles (3.2/9) were low, down -14% and -18%, respectively, from last week’s telecasts. The Good Wife finished the night up +10% (2.2/6).

Season to date, The Good Wife (2.3/6) is down -21% from its comparable original performance last year (2.9/8).

NBC’s Biggest Loser: Couples (2.4/7) dropped -11% and delivered the franchise’s lowest spring telecast in almost five years (Biggest Loser: Special Edition on 3/15/06).

Through last night, Biggest Loser: Couples is down -19% from its comparable spring cycle performance last year (3.0/8 vs. 3.7/10). At 10p, Parenthood (1.9/6) was down -10% from last week.
