Friday 'Dateline NBC' wins the 10pm hour

At 10 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) ranked #1.


At 8 p.m. ET, “Chuck” (1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall) matched its season high in adults 18-49 and established a new season high in total viewers.  Versus its prior telecast on November 18, “Chuck” is up 11 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.0 from a 0.9) and up 18 percent in total viewers (3.660 million vs. 3.109 million).
 
At 9 p.m. ET, “Grimm” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) is #1 for the hour among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, men 18-49, adults 18-34 (tie) and men 18-34. 

Despite having last aired on a Friday night three weeks ago, “Grimm” returned with an 18-49 rating that matched results for its prior two Friday telecasts on November 11 and 18.  Versus NBC’s average in the time period last season, this week’s “Grimm” is up 23 percent (1.6 vs. 1.3, “live plus same day,” non-sports).  “Grimm” is also up 33 percent versus NBC’s rating in this time slot on the same night last year (1.6 vs. 1.2). 
 
“Grimm” built on its lead-in by 60 percent in 18-49 rating and 48 percent in total viewers. 

At 10 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and most other key demographics.  From its first half-hour to its second, “Dateline NBC” grew in all key ratings categories, including gains of 13 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 1.5) and 20 percent in total viewers (6.3 million vs. 5.2 million).  Versus its 9-11 p.m. edition on the same night last year, “Dateline” is up 14 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 1.4).
 
“Dateline” matched its top 18-49 rating since September 23 during premiere week.
 
In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, “Dateline NBC” delivered a 38 margin of victory in the key news demographic of adults 25-54 (with a 2.2 rating vs. a 1.6 for both ABC and CBS), up from a 6% margin during the prior half-hour (1.9 vs. 1.8 for ABC’s “”20/20” from 10-10:30). 

“Dateline” was #1 in the 10:30 half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in all key demographics — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

For the night, NBC is tied for #1 with CBS in adults 18-49 with a 1.4 rating.  NBC also tied CBS for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 25-54 and is #1 outright among those networks in all key adult-male demos.
