Friday NBC w/ 'Dateline NBC' was No. 1

At 8 p.m. ET, the second season premiere of “Who Do You Think You Are?” (1.3/4 in adults 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) matched NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period since October 8 and tracked down NBC’s top total-viewer result in the hour since that same date. 


In the time period, “Who Do You Think You Are?” tied for #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, ranked #2 outright in adults 25-54 and total viewers and was #1 in women 18-49 and women 25-54. 

“Who Do You Think You Are?” set a series record in total viewers, with its 7.3 million topping the prior high of 7.1 million set on March 19, 2010. 

From 9-11 p.m. ET, “Dateline NBC” (1.9/6 in adults 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) headlined its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results for a Friday telecast in more than a year (since January 8, 2010). 

In the time period, “Dateline” tied for #2 in adults 18-49 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW and ranked #1 in women 18-49 and women 25-54. 

“Dateline NBC” reported week-to-week gains for a second straight week, up versus the prior Friday by 12 percent in 18-49 rating (1.9 vs. 1.7) and 18 percent in total viewers (8.607 million vs. 7.308 million), while increasing versus two weeks earlier by 36 percent in 18-49 (1.9 vs. 1.4) and 35 percent in total viewers (8.607 million vs. 6.359 million).

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, this week’s “Dateline NBC” was #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.   In adults 18-49, “Dateline’s” 2.1 rating in its second hour is NBC’s highest non-Olympic result in that Friday 10-11 p.m. hour since September 18, 2009.
