FTC’s gripes of wrath

0

The Federal Trade Commission fielded over 1.2M consumer complaints in 2008, and the bad news is that broadcasters were among the top 20 topics of complaint. The good news, however, is that wasn’t that big of a deal. In all, less than 26K of the gripes fit into the “Television and Electronic Media” category, amounting to 2% of the total and good for 7th place, just after “Prizes, Sweepstakes and Lotteries” and ahead of “Banks and Lenders.” The hands-down winner was “Identity Theft,” with just under 314K complaints, good for 26% of the total. “Third Party and Creditor Debt Collection” was a distant second with 104.6K/9%.

RBR/TVBR observation: We don’t know if we’re going to take our gripe to the FTC, but we recently took a look at our retirement accounts and we are NONE TOO PLEASED with “Banks and Lenders” right about now.
