Gray Grows Its LPTV Stable Once Again

Of all of the major broadcast TV groups in the U.S., Gray Television has emerged as one of the most active buyers of low-power television facilities. With ATSC 3.0 bringing Broadcast Internet and NEXTGEN TV opportunities, the company led in tandem by Hilton Howell Jr. and Pat LaPlatney has actively been seeking to secure full-DMA over-the-air coverage of its stations through these LPTV deals.

The latest one to get filed with the FCC involves four properties, two of which are located in Alabama. The others are in downstate Illinois and in Shreveport, respectively.

There’s a second filing awaiting FCC approval, too, and it involves a Mississippi Gulf Coast LPTV property.
