Iowa Public Radio reports the death Tuesday evening of Greg Shanley. The 49-year-old had been a long-time fixture of public broadcasting in Iowa. The cause of death was not disclosed.

After some 20 years as local host of NPR’s “Morning Edition” and News Director, Shanley moved in 2007 to producing and hosting talk shows. Most recently he hosted “Talk of Iowa” weekdays for the statewide network.

Shanley was a second-generation radio broadcaster. His father, Gib, had been the voice of the NFL Cleveland Browns for 24 years.
