The longtime SoCal morning man had been with KHHT-FM for over a year. Now, according to The Orange County Register, he’s out as of 7/9 at the Clear Channel R&B/Old School Urban outlet.

Greg Ashlock, President/Market Manager of Clear Channel/LA, wrote in a memo: “Rick has been with us for a year and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every moment. He’s a consummate professional and we wish him the best as he pursues some national opportunities. John Ivey will be sharing with you our morning plans for the future later this week.”

Ivey is head of programming for CC/LA.

Dees will continue to host his Dial-Global-syndicated Weekly Top 40 to over 200 affiliates worldwide and the American Forces Network.

After 23 years on Clear Channel’s KIIS-FM LA, Dees left in 2004 because of a contract dispute and was replaced by Ryan Seacrest. Dees returned in 2006 on Emmis’ KMVN, Movin’ 93.9 LA, hosting the morning show along with Patti “Long Legs” Lopez and Mark Wong. In 2009, Movin 93.9 changed format to Spanish Contemporary. Dees began hosting the morning show at Hot 92.3 in May, 2011.
