With the start of the 117th U.S. Congress, the House Energy and Commerce Republican Leader became Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who succeeds the now-retired Greg Walden.

On Thursday (1/14), Rodgers revealed that eight fellow GOP members will be seated with her on the powerful committee that maintains oversight of the FCC.

The new Republican members are:
  • Kelly Armstrong (N.D.)
  • Dan Crenshaw (Tex.)
  • John Curtis (Utah)
  • Neal Dunn (Fla.)
  • John Joyce (Pa.)
  • Debbie Lesko (Ariz.)
  • Gary Palmer (Ala.)
  • Greg Pence (Ind.)

Greg Pence is the older brother of soon-to-depart Vice President Mike Pence, who represented the district from 2003 to 2013.

“Congratulations to all eight members who will join the House Energy and Commerce Committee,” Rodgers says. “Every single member will be a great asset to our team. From healthcare to technology to energy, they bring invaluable expertise and knowledge to lead on policies that will improve people’s lives in every region of the country.”

Rodgers adds that the House E&C Committee “is at the very center of the battles for freedom to stop socialism and for hope to beat fear. People expect results, and they made that clear when they sent a significant number of Republicans this cycle to the People’s House. That’s why I made sure the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s ratios reflected these historic gains. Let’s get to work.”
