Is it for real, or has the Wall Street Journal been duped by Howard Stern’s band of merry pranksters? The august, sometimes even stodgy, business news publication reported late Thursday that “people close to the situation” say Howard Stern is in negotiations to fill the judge chair just vacated by Piers Morgan at NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
If the rumor is true, AGT would reportedly have to move production of the main live shows to New York from Los Angeles to accommodate Stern’s daily radio show on SiriusXM. There was no explanation of how Stern would (or could) handle the audition shows in multiple cities across the country.
RBR-TVBR observation: We recall that Stern & Co. scammed the gullible press by spreading rumors that he was in talks for the open judge seat on Fox’s “American Idol” when Simon Cowell left. So, do we believe this rumor? Do we believe in the Tooth Fairy? Do we believe in the Easter Bunny?
