May 19, 2022, will be remembered as a big, successful day for Dielectric President Keith Pelletier. Why? At its May Open Meeting, the FCC unanimously approved its Petition for Rulemaking that puts FM radio directional antenna pattern studies in sync with AM and television broadcast signals.
In short, licensees now have the option of verifying the directional antenna pattern through computer modeling.
Pelletier shared what the rule change will bring in a September 2021 InFOCUS Podcast, presented by dot.FM, in layman’s terms. “It boils down to time to market,” he explains. Pelletier also notes that the human element won’t be hampered, and in fact frees up tech personnel to have an advanced skill set.
