Introducing KLOVE’s Newest O&O

It serves an area of Appalachia between Roanoke and Lynchburg, Va., with 6,000 watts, focusing on Bedford and its surrounding communities. And, until March 1, it was a simulcast partner with a co-owned Oldies station focused on Lynchburg, owned by Lynchburg Radio Group.

That shared programming has ended. In its place: KLOVE, as Educational Media Foundation has acquired the property.

WZZI-FM 106.9, licensed to Bedford, Va., is being acquired by EMF from WVJT LLC, led by Todd Robinson.

He’s pocketing $118,750 from the deal. A 10% escrow deposit has been made to WVJT LLC, which does business as LRG.

There is no broker or finder in the deal, signed off by COO/CFO David Atkinson on behalf of EMF.

The sale of WZZI is the latest in a series of deals that have transpired for Robinson since March 2021. At that time, Robinson agreed to spin Classic Rocker WZZU “The Planet 97.9” in Lynchburg to Mel Wheeler, Inc., for $330,000.

One month later, Robinson signed off on a $500,000 sale of WKHF-FM 93.7, licensed to Lynchburg, to a newly formed North Carolina-based entity 51% owned by Chuck Marsh, and 24% owned by Rebecca Marsh.

KLOVE’s Station Finder already lists WZZI as a Member station, indicating EMF is leasing the station ahead of closing.

Robinson acquired WZZI in August 2012 for $523,000 in a deal that included WZZU.
