According to Arbitron, Jacksonville, FL is the 46th largest radio market with a population of 1,144,400. According to Media Monitors, the #1 radio advertiser in that market last week was the law firm of Morgan & Morgan with 569 spots. Arlington Toyota Scion of Jacksonville was #2 with 509 spots, while Geico drove into #3 with 487 ads. The Home Depot was #4, up from #12, with 406 spots. McDonald’s was #5 airing 327 commercials and the US Department of Health & Human Services was #8 with 312 ads. Brakes4Less was #7 running 303 spots, while Verizon was #8 with 268 spots. Jacksonville Chrysler Jeep Dodge was #9 with 260 ads and SafeTouch Security Systems was #10 with 250 spots.


On a national level, it looks things have gone sour with sweets and snacks at radio. The Wrigley product EXTRA was #1 with only 324 spots in the USA. DOVE CHOCOLATE was #2 with 192 spots last week, while WRIGLEY’S gum ran 118 spots. TWIX, a Mars product, ran 116 spots and MAUNA LOA from Hershey’s had 78 spots. DORITOS from Frito-Lay ran only 67 spots, while SNYDER’S OF HANOVER came in #7 with 66 spots. GOODNESSKNOWS from Mars ran 64 spots to be #8 and HERSHEY’S ran 51 at #9. HIGH OCTANE ENERGY CHEW was #10 with 47 spots.

NATIONAL STATISTICS 
In the ongoing battle for #1, THE HOME DEPOT regained the position with 63,213 ads. GEICO dropped to #2 with 42,413 ads, while VERIZON inched into #3 with 26,934 ads. MCDONALD’S was #4 with 26,541 spots and FOX TV NETWORK enters the national TOP 100 at #5 running 25,250 spots. Note: NBC-TV was #6 with 22,233 spots and CBS TV was #8 with 19,166 ads. ABC-TV was #13 airing 14,109 spots. Let the new TV season begin.
