AM 860, The Voice of Portland talker Bob Miller is hosting the station’s annual charity drive, “Operation Santa Claus” all this week. The event, from the Pamplin Media Group station, raises funds to assist local families coping with the loss of income due to military deployment. So far, Operation Santa Claus has raised over $1,000,000 dollars in the last eight years. This year’s fundraising goal is $135,000.
AM 860 and Miller work with The Salvation Army as a conduit for the money raised during the week of the radiothon. 100% of the proceeds raised go through them to the local military families in need in Portland and Southwest Washington.
Said Miller: “The need for Operation Santa Claus funds for families of our troops has increased exponentially. I am thrilled and gratified every year to see how generous our listeners are, no matter what the economy is doing.”
