As 2019 came to a close, Irina Baranova decided to acquire a Class D AM licensed to the city of Tigard, Ore., that exactly 10 years ago went dark, ending its tenure as a regional Mexican station targeting Latinos across the Portland region.

Now, Baranova has completed her company’s purchase of a радио станция for those seeking more Russian-language programming.

As TRANSACTIONS TODAY reported on Dec. 23, 2019, Baranova’s PIN Investments LLC agreed to purchase KXPD-AM 1040, in Tigard, for $200,000

The James Su-led Riverside Broadcasting is the seller, with Kozacko Media Services serving as the exclusive broker in the transactions.

With closing on March 24, PIN is getting a non-directional 2.2kw day/200 watts night facility with a tower adjacent to Oaks Amusement Park, in the Southeastern part of the city along the Willamette River.

KXPD is now broadcasting as “Radio Slavic Family,” competing with an LPFM at 105.5 MHz, operated by the Portland Russian Media Center: KXRU-LP.

The $200,000 transaction price in this deal pales in comparison to the $840,000 purchase of KXPD agreed to in June 2011 by Riverside and prior owner Churchill Media.
