Citizens of Boston and elsewhere were tuned in on the situation as authorities closed in on surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – and for the vast majority in Boston, they were tuned to local television stations. Another house located in a different DMA was also tuned in to local Boston TV – the White House.

According to TVSpy, 68% of Boston residents were watching events unfold on a local television station. That compares to about 11% who were on one of the cable news channels.

In the White House West Wing, staffers were also using access to local Boston television to monitor events.
