A ‘Positive Alternative’ Ahead For Virginia Duo

The small town of Luray, Va., is best known across the National Capital Region, to the east, for its caverns and its abundant verdant hills that make a steeplechase outing a fun and classy affair.

Here, an AM/FM combo are getting a “positive alternative.”

In a deal struck April 17 and filed with the Commission on Wednesday, Hayden Hamilton Media Strategies is selling Class D WRAA-AM 1330 and Class A WMXH-FM 105.7 in Luray to Positive Alternative Radio.

The transaction is valued at $165,000, with $8,250 placed in escrow at this time.

The remainder will be paid in cash at closing.

The buyer is based in Blacksburg, Va., and is led by Virginia and Edward A. Baker. It will convert the stations to noncommercial status, as PAR is known for its religious programming on stations branded as “Spirit FM.”

Jorgenson Broadcast Brokerage represented the seller in this transaction.
