Mark Mays remains at the Clear Channel helm

December 31, 2010 passed without a successor being named for Mark Mays as CEO of Clear Channel Communications and its parent company, CC Media Holdings. No problem – he’s not rushing off.

As noted in mid-December, the date that Mays had announced for his departure was fast approaching and no new CEO had been named. It was back in June that Mays had announced plans to step down. That seemed to allow plenty of time for the executive search. But while the company announced in November that Bob Pittman would join Clear Channel as Chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms, the position of CEO for the entire company has not yet been filled.

Nor is there any need to rush. “Mark Mays always said that he would serve in his capacity as CEO until his successor is named.  There’s no change in that as this process continues,” Clear Channel Chief Communications Officer Lisa Dollinger told RBR-TVBR.

Even once a new CEO is hired Mays will still remain as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

RBR-TVBR observation: The hiring of Pittman created a lot of buzz in the industry. Will the eventual CEO naming be as exciting? Enquiring minds want to know. But we’ll just have to wait.
