A Spike In Radio Spots For CVS

There’s a new battle for spot supremacy at the radio stations tracked by Media Monitors.

According to the latest Spot Ten Radio report, Walgreens is now being challenged with a big bump in activity from its largest national competitor.

That would be CVS/Pharmacy, which in the last 25 years has marched across the U.S. to become one of two giants in the drug store category; it operates as Longs Drugs in Hawaii but converted all Longs stores on the mainland to CVS locations.

For the week ending March 11, CVS placed No. 6, with 26,784 spots, in the latest Spot Ten report.

Walgreens didn’t back down. The drug store chain, which operates under the venerable Duane Reade brand in New York City, climbed to No. 4, with 28,309 spots.

Also making waves in the latest Spot Ten Radio report are Macy’s, and Indeed.
