The FCC’s Open Meeting for August, on the schedule for Thursday 8/27/09 at 10AM Eastern, holds little of interest to broadcasters. The items on the agenda are about wireless, wireless, and being truthful with consumers. So the interest will solely be in the opportunity to get our first official look at newly minted Commissioners Mignon Clyburn and Meredith Attwell Baker. And it will only be Chairman Julius Genachowski’s second Open Meeting outing.
RBR/TVBR observation: The first wireless item is about the national broadband plan, so we may see where the rookies stand on the activist government/free market continuum. That said, we wish all the commissioners on the first Obama FCC well as they embark on what promises to be a challenging couple of years.
