Miramax is the latest content owner to cut a deal to have its programming distributed via the new Netflix operation in Latin America. Nexflix had already been streaming Miramax movies in the US since May.

Miramax CEO Mike Lang announced that hundreds of the company’s film titles will become available digitally in international markets for the first time under the multi-year agreement with Netflix.

Beginning this month, Netflix members in Latin American territories including Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina will be able to instantly watch more than 140 Miramax movies, with dozens of titles being added on a rotating basis.  The movies can be watched on multiple platforms, including TV, tablet, PC and mobile phones.  Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.

Films from the Miramax library available to Netflix Latin America subscribers will include Chicago, Chocolat, The English Patient, From Dusk Till Dawn, Gone Baby Gone, Good Will Hunting, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Swingers, There Will Be Blood, Amityville Horror, Scream and Spy Kids.

“We are very pleased to launch our first international digital deal through our friends at Netflix,” said Lang.  “The robust Netflix platform will provide a proven avenue to reach Latin American audiences and take advantage of strong subscriber growth prospects.  We look forward to growing the international audience for the Miramax library through many more partnerships like this around the world.”
