MTV goes for Tuesday drama

MTV has repositioned its two top drama series, hoping to score with fans on Tuesday nights.


“The Hills” and “The City” return for the new season on September 29th, scheduled back-to-back.

“The Hills” Season Five, Part Two, will air at 10:00 p ET/PT and “The City” Season One, Part Two, at 10:30 pm ET/PT. Each will be running for 10 all-new episodes.

The conflict continues on both shows as “Laguna Beach” alum Kristin Cavallari joins the cast of “The Hills” while on “The City,” Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo embark on new career paths in fashion.

“The Hills” is MTV’s #1 series and in Season Five, Part One, the show reached over 41.7 million total viewers on MTV, with over 22.3 million from the P12-34 demo and ranked #1 in its time period across all networks among F12-34. “The City” Season One, Part One reached over 34.1 million total viewers on MTV, with over 18.4 million from the P12-34 demo and ranked #1 in its time period across all cable competition among F18-24.

“The Hills” and “The City” are created by Adam DiVello. Adam DiVello, Liz Gateley and Sean Travis serve as executive producers for “The Hills” and “The City.” Sarah Mast executive produces “The Hills” and Spike Van Briesen and Bill Langworthy serve as co-executive producers of “The City.” Catherine K. Whyte is MTV’s executive-in-charge of production for both series.
