NBC Thursday line-up in third place w/ 'The Apprentice'

At 8 p.m. ET, “Community” (1.9/6 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) matched NBC’s average in the slot for the traditional ’09-10 season (1.9, non-sports, “live plus same day”), despite intense time-period competition last night that included CBS’s “Big Bang Theory.”  Versus NBC’s 1.8 in the time period on the same night last year, “Community” is up 6 percent.  In the time period last night, “Community” ranked #2 among NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.


At 8:30 ET, “30 Rock” (2.6/8 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) built by 37 percent on its lead-in from “Community” and also generated a 37 increase on NBC’s slot average during the ’09-10 traditional season (1.9, non-sports, “live plus same day”).  The build on lead-in is a substantial jump versus NBC’s average in the slot last season, when the network was flat in this time period versus original lead-ins from “Community.”  “30 Rock” matched NBC’s highest non-sports 18-49 rating in this time slot since December 17, 2009.  In the time period last night, “30 Rock” is tied for #2 in adults 18-49 among NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox and is #1 in adults, men and women 18-34.
“30 Rock” maintained its rating of the prior week in adults 18-49 and is one of only two Thursday shows (together with “The Apprentice”) on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW to maintain its rating week to week.
 
At 9 p.m. ET, “The Office” (3.7/10 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and was #1 ahead of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “CSI” and Fox’s “Fringe” in men 18-34 and men 18-49, while tying for #1 with “Grey’s” in adults 18-34.  Versus its averages in last May’s sweep,  the “Office” was up 6 percent in 18-49 rating (3.7 vs. 3.5) and 8 percent in total viewers (7.300 million vs. 6.771 million).

At 9:30 ET, “Outsourced” delivered a 2.8/7 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall.  “Outsourced” is up 4 percent versus NBC’s average in the time period last season (2.7, non-sports, “live plus same day”).  In the time period, “Outsourced” ranks #1 ahead of the concluding half-hours of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “CSI” and Fox’s “Fringe” in men 18-34 and men 18-49.
 
At 10 p.m. ET, “The Apprentice” averaged a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall.  From its first half-hour to its second, “The Apprentice” maintained its 18-49 rating and grew 3 percent in total viewers while competing programming on ABC and CBS experienced declines in both categories (pending updates).  “The Apprentice” matched its rating of the prior week in adults 18-49 and is one of only two Thursday shows (together with “30 Rock”) on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW to maintain its rating week to week.

For the night, NBC matched its year-ago rating in adults 18-49 (2.3 vs. 2.3) while CBS was down 15 percent (3.3 vs. 3.9), ABC was down 42 percent (2.8 vs. 4.8) and Fox was down 12 percent (2.2 vs. 2.5).
