NBC Thursday sitcom line-up was third place

At 8 p.m. ET, “Community” (2.2/6 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) equaled its season high for a regular-slot telecast in 18-49 rating, despite the arrival of “American Idol” competition to a time period that already included CBS’s “Big Bang Theory” and ABC’s “Winter Wipeout.”  The last time “Community” earned a 2.2 in this time period was October 14.  The October 28 Halloween episode ran at 8:30 and scared up a 2.4.  “Community” is up 16 percent versus NBC’s average in the slot for the traditional ’09-10 season (2.2 vs. 1.9, non-sports, “live plus same day”).


At 8:30 ET, the debut of “Perfect Couples” (2.1/6 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) retained 95 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from “Community” and retained its full lead-in in women 18-49 (2.3 vs. 2.3) and women 18-34 (2.8 vs. 2.8).  “Perfect Couples” is up versus NBC’s time-period average last season by 11 percent in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 1.9, non-sports, “live plus same day”).
 
“Perfect Couples” finished within 2 shares of second place among ABC, CBS, NBC and CW in the half-hour in adults 18-49.
 
From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, “The Office” (4.5/12 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall, pending updates) filed its highest 18-49 rating of the season and best since the March 4, 2010 telecast featuring the birth of Pam and Jim’s baby (4.7).
 
“The Office is the #1 comedy of the night in adults 18-49.  In the time period, “The Office” is #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 ahead of CBS’s “CSI,” Fox’s “Bones” (which benefited from an “American Idol” lead-in) and ABC’s encore of “Grey’s Anatomy.”  “The Office” also won the half-hour in adults, men and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54. 
 
From 9:31-10 p.m. ET, the third season premiere of “Parks and Recreation” (3.2/8 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) set a series record in 18-49 rating and delivered the show’s biggest overall audience since its series premiere on April 9, 2009.  In the time period, “Parks and Recreation” ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, within a tenth of a rating point of first place (pending updates), and was #1 in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49.

Versus its year-ago season premiere (in the 8:30 half-hour on September 17, 2009), “Parks and Recreation” is up 52 percent in 18-49 rating (3.2 vs. 2.1) and up 27 percent in total viewers (6.189 million vs. 4.885 million).

At 10 p.m. ET, “30 Rock” (2.7/7 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) earned NBC’s top non-sports 18-49 rating in the time period since April 15, 2010 and finished within a tenth of a rating point of #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49 rating.  “30 Rock” is #1 in the half-hour among adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49.  “30 Rock” improved on NBC’s time-period average in the half-hour last season by 42 percent in 18-49 (2.7 vs. 1.9).
 
At 10:30 p.m. ET, “Outsourced” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) dialed in NBC’s highest non-sports 18-49 rating in the time period since May 20, 2010.  In the time slot, “Outsourced” ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults, men and women 18-34.
