From 8-10 p.m. ET, the premiere of “The Biggest Loser: Couples” (3.3/9 in 18-49, 8.7 million viewers overall) was #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in the time period in adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 18-34; and adults and women 25-54.
In a time period that included competition from CBS’s 8-10 p.m. series premiere of “Live To Dance” and ABC’s 9-10 p.m. season premiere of “V,” “The Biggest Loser: Couples” grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 25 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.5 from a 2.8). Head to head versus CBS’s premiere of “Live To Dance,” “The Biggest Loser: Couples” was higher-rated in all key demographics — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. In adults 18-49, “Biggest Loser” held a 38 percent advantage over the premiere of “Live To Dance” (3.3 vs. 2.4).
Excluding finales, this is the highest-rated “Biggest Loser” since May 11, 2010. In total viewers, it’s the top non-finale “Biggest Loser” since February 9, 2010. Versus the prior “Biggest Loser” premiere on September 21, 2010, last night’s telecast was up 14 percent in 18-49 rating (3.3 vs. 2.9) and up 21 percent in total viewers (8.738 vs. 7.225 million). The year-ago “Biggest Loser: Couples” premiere averaged a 4.6/12 in 18-49 and 11.740 million viewers overall on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010.
At 10 p.m., “Parenthood” (2.3/6 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall) scored its highest 18-49 rating since September 21 and delivered its biggest overall audience since September 14. Versus its prior telecast on November 23, “Parenthood” is up 21 percent in 18-49 rating (2.3 vs. 1.9) and up 35 percent in total viewers (6.030 million vs. 4.469 million).
In the time period, “Parenthood” ranked #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 18-34; and adults 25-54 (tie) and women 25-54.
These “Parenthood” results are likely to increase substantially when Nielsen issues “live plus seven day” results for the current week. In L+7 averages for the season’s first 13 weeks, “Parenthood” is the #1 primetime series on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox or CW in terms of percentage increase from L+SD to L+7 (+43% in adults 18-49, to a 2.91 rating from a 2.03). In total viewers, “Parenthood” is also the #1 series in terms of percentage increase from L+SD to L+7 (+39% in persons 2+, to 6.9 million from 5.0 million).
NBC is #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49 and is also #1 or tied for #1 in all other key demographics. This is NBC’s third Tuesday win in a row in adults 18-49
