NBCU unveils affiliate marketing plan for Olympics

NBC Universal announced a comprehensive cable affiliate marketing strategy for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games (Friday, August 8) including a Local Ad Sales Campaign, General Awareness Campaign, Pre-Games Free On Demand (FOD) Campaign, and Pre-Games Broadband Campaign, in addition to robust in-Games offerings of HD, FOD, Broadband, and Interactive TV (ITV) content. NBCU will offer its affiliates specialized campaign packages to support the more than 3,600 hours of multiplatform coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, including TV coverage on NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, USA Network, Oxygen, Telemundo, NBC HD, Universal HD, USA HD, and CNBC HD+.


Marketing support, including  print, online and on-air materials, will be made available to cable, satellite, and telco affiliates at www.nbcunetworks.com.

NBCU will deliver 700+ hours on its cable network properties, including CNBC, MSNBC, USA Network, Oxygen and Telemundo.

Multi-platform offerings will allow affiliate customers to watch and be a part of the Olympics pre-Games and in-games.

Designed to drive affiliates’ HD services with hundreds of hours of HD coverage on NBC HD, Universal HD, USA HD, CNBC HD+ and HD sport-specific.

At the start of the games, the in-games package will feature daily highlights of each sport, in addition to access to the best events each day.

NBCU’s Broadband pre-Games package is an opportunity to drive multiple digital services (FOD and Broadband) with compelling content available on both platforms. Content will be available for placement on the affiliates’ Web site.

In-games content includes 2,000+ hours of 25 events streamed live. “Rewind” features long-form video replays of the best sessions and events each day. In-Games content is available on www.nbcolympics.com via a link/thumbnail on the affiliates Web site.
