Hunting and fishing aren’t allowed in Central Park, but New Yorkers who enjoy those sports can at least now watch them in HD. Outdoor Channel Holdings announced that its fishing, hunting and adventure programming is available for the first time to Time Warner Cable HD subscribers in the nation’s largest market, New York City, Mount Vernon (New York), and New Jersey.

“This agreement further solidifies Outdoor Channel’s category leadership,” declared Tom Hornish, COO for Outdoor Channel. “We continue to make strategic investments in quality programming that we are delivering to a growing base of loyal viewers who demand the visual clarity of the great outdoors in HD. Outdoor Channel is currently the only full-time outdoor network with a robust HD offering, and this launch in the number one media market is evidence that our investment is paying off,” he added.

This deal broadens the existing distribution partnership between Time Warner and Outdoor Channel with the addition of the network’s HD programming in the largest broadcasting market in the United States. In March, Time Warner and Outdoor Channel renewed their affiliation agreement across more than 150 markets to maintain their distribution partnership for the Outdoor Channel network’s standard definition, high-definition and video-on-demand programming.

Outdoor Channel Holdings trades publicly on Nasdaq as “OUTD.”
