Cablevision’s News 12 Long Island has lost one of its family: News 12 reporter Michael Baldwin’s newborn son died 9/1 after being found underneath his unconscious babysitter – who also later died. The infant, Michael Baldwin III, and babysitter, Teresa Coffey, 39, were found about 9:30 p.m. inside the boy’s parents’ home on in Greenlawn, Long Island – reportedly after the father returned home.

Suffolk County police are awaiting autopsy results in the bizarre deaths. Police said carbon-monoxide poisoning does not appear to be a factor in the deaths, but they did not say whether either victim showed signs of physical trauma. The baby was given CPR at the home and was then rushed to a local hospital, but doctors could not revive him. Coffey was also taken by ambulance to the same hospital and died a short time after the boy.

Police are investigating Coffey had “fallen over” and suffocated the baby because she was found on top of him on a couch in the living room. A lieutenant  described the babysitter as “extremely heavy” and “extremely large breasted.”

“At this point in time, I have no reason to believe this was anything other than a tragic accident,” he said.

Newsday reported Baldwin made the 911 call.
