THE BRONX, N.Y. — Take the No. 4 train to Moshulu Parkway, and you’ll find Montefiore Hospital. You’ll also find the broadcast tower for a unique FM station that has served listeners in Westchester County and much of the City of New York for 74 years.
It’s the sibling of a younger, 72-year old AM sibling with a broadcast tower in the rear of the two stations’ New Rochelle, N.Y.-based studios and offices. The charming little building is also the home of parent company Whitney Global Media, the current incarnation of a company that’s celebrating its 54th anniversary.
The man who put all together is now being remembered as a generous, sweet and highly impactful gentleman by many across the Empire State and the entire U.S. radio broadcasting industry. Bill O’Shaughnessy has died at the age of 84.
