NYS Broadcasters set "Digital Leadership Academy"

New York State Broadcasters Association, Inc.’s (NYSBA) 1st annual “Digital Media Leadership Academy” — a new initiative designed to help local radio and TV stations stay competitive in the weakened marketplace.  It takes place 5/18 and 5/19 at Doral Arrowwood Resort in Westchester County, N.Y.


The Academy brings together 30 of the state’s brightest broadcast sales professionals who have sold digital media advertising (online, mobile or cross-platform packages) and aims to cultivate them into the most successful, next generation of digital sales managers.  The conference comes at a time when TV and radio stations all across the nation are struggling to stay afloat in a climate of layoffs and cost cutting. Digital revenue is one of the primary growing cash flow sources in the broadcasting business right now.

The schedule (Monday):
Noon-1:30 p.m. — Keynote address by digital marketing guru Seth Godin. Entitled, “Management Strategies for a Digital World,” Godin’s presentation will outline how TV and radio stations can boost their bottom line by using their infrastructure in a different way.
 
2-3:45 p.m. — Stephen Warley, founder, LocalBroadcastSales, “Matching Your Digital Capabilities with Your Clients’ Marketing Goals”
 
4-5:45 p.m. — Bill Caudill, vice president of sales and training, Borrell Associates, “How to Best Approach Local Businesses About Digital Advertising” 
 
Tuesday (5/19):
8-8:30 p.m. — Jeff Minsky, director, emerging media platforms, OMD Digital and Greg Smith, chief operating officer, [email protected] North America, “Working More Effectively with Digital and Interactive Advertising Agencies”
 
10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. — Rich Lobel, executive vice president, Altitude Group, CBS Radio and Mike Aronow, director of sales development, CBS Radio Digital Media Group, “Multi-Platform Advertising Case Studies”
 
1:30-3:30 p.m. — Workshop in which attendees will share an innovative sales concept, tool, technique or management idea that has delivered tangible results to their clients.
