Philly at a discount

Forget what W.C. Fields said about Philadelphia. It’s a great city and a great place to network next month as the radio industry gathers there to break cheesesteaks. To that end, the NAB has announced a special “free agent” registration at $179 for broadcasters currently, shall we say, unattached.

The special discount rate is now available if you go to the NAB Radio Show website, www.nabradioshow.com, and begin the regular registration process. The “free agent” registration will be offered as one of the options.

Not only do you get to attend the Radio Show for the $179 registration price, but you also get a ticket to the Radio Luncheon. The regular registration price, by the way, is $495 for NAB members and $795 for non-members. Those increase by $100 after September 17th, which is also the final date for the special “free agent” registration.

RBR/TVBR observation: Fortunately, Philly is drivable from most of the Eastern US, the most populous part of the nation and no doubt the part with the most out-of-work broadcast pros. So, grab a pile of resumes and do some fishing. In the meantime, be sure to keep checking the RBR/TVBR classifieds. We hope you won’t qualify for the “free agent” discount the next time the industry gathers.
