On December 24, 2020, the husband that shares ownership with his wife of a Class A noncommercial FM radio station serving the island of Nantucket in Massachusetts passed away.

Now, the requisite paperwork is being filed that will give the woman full ownership of “Quahog Country.”

At the age of 85, Robert Shapiro passed away at his residence in Brevard County, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Shapiro. And, a transfer of her husband’s 50% stake in WNCK-FM 89.5 in Nantucket has been submitted for approval by the Commission.

WNCK is unique, in that it airs a gold-based Country format as a noncommercial service for the affluent community.

It is one of just six FM stations that can be heard clearly on the island, aside from a Travelers’ Information service using a LPFM facility.
