Radio.com Expands Beyond Entercom O&Os

As of today, Entercom owned-and-operated stations have been the exclusive AMs and FMs found on the Radio.com app acquired as part of the company’s merger with CBS Radio.

That’s set to change soon, with the addition of stations from two other radio broadcasting companies.

Content distribution partnerships with Cox Radio and Bonneville have been signed, sealed and delivered, Entercom President/CEO David Field shared during his company’s Q4 earnings call.

The agreements signal Entercom’s desire for Radio.com to be a strong competitor in the audio stream app aggregation space, alongside iHeartRadio.

It could also position TuneIn as a player best-suited for the international marketplace and for independent radio stations.

For sure, it says U.S. commercial radio operators are not united with one dedicated home for their station’s audio streams — a path taken in Canada following the success of the Radioplayer app across Great Britain.

While Bonneville’s radio stations across all markets, in addition to the 61 radio stations owned by Cox Media Group, are expected to arrive on Radio.com soon, the deal also sees the addition of premium on-demand audio and podcasts from both companies in the coming weeks.

The pacts follow recent Radio.com content distribution agreements with CNN and Bloomberg Media.

Entercom Chief Digital Officer J.D. Crowley said, “Great partnerships like these further strengthen RADIO.COM’s position as the premiere destination for live and on-demand audio news, entertainment, music and sports content in markets all across the U.S.”

Cox Media Group VP/Audience and Content Tim Clarke added, “We are thrilled to expand the distribution of our award-winning Cox Radio brands to RADIO.COM. There has never been a more exciting time for audio content and we are excited to partner with Entercom in building the next great audio platform.”

Cox content to be available on RADIO.COM includes podcasts like “The Von Haessler Doctrine,” and “The Mark Kaye Show.”

Bonneville content to be available includes podcasts such as “Above & Beyond: The Intersection of Faith and Sports,” “Your Last Meal,” “Mindfulness, Wellness & You,” and “Stuff Your Dad Knows.”
