One Chris is succeeding another Chris in the Big Easy.

Chris Wegmann, a four-decade radio industry veteran who began his career at then-R&B WBOK-AM in New Orleans, has been appointed VP/Market Manager of Entercom/New Orleans.

In his new role, Wegmann will oversee WWL-AM & FM, WEZB-FM “B97,” WKBU-FM “95.7 The Bayou,” WLMG-FM “Magic 101.9,” WWWL-AM and its FM translator “HOT 103.7,” and the New Orleans Saints Radio Network.

He takes the role after several years at Radio One (now Urban One), where he had served as the Radio Division President since November 2013. Prior to that, Wegmann spent eight years as a Radio One regional VP in Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington, D.C.

Wegmann announced his retirement in April 2016.

From 2002-2008, he was VP/Market Manager of Cox Media Group’s Atlanta cluster, with chief management duties for its News/Talk WSB-AM & FM in the market.

From 1982-1988, Wegmann served as GM of KHFI-FM in Austin, now an iHeartMedia CHR/Pop station.

“I am excited to have someone of Chris’s background joining Entercom in New Orleans,” said Entercom Regional President Michael Doyle. “He started his career in New Orleans, and is returning with an impressive resume of success in our industry.”

Wegmann is a New Orleans native and after WBOK joined Adult Standards WWIW-AM, as General Manager.

In New Orleans, Wegmann succeeds Chris Claus, who is retiring after a decade running Entercom’s stations in the market.
