The Public Radio Exchange, a content creator and distributor, has formed RadioPublic.
The point is “re-invent” radio to bring listeners and creators together.
Its first task is to build a mobile listening platform for on-demand radio and podcasts.
RadioPublic aims to create a new listening experience, featuring content discovery, exclusive offers, and fan engagement. Investors include the New York Times, Project11, McClatchy, Knight Enterprise Fund, American Public media and Homebrew.
Founding Chief Executive of PRX Jake Shapiro will lead the new venture as CEO and Kerri Hoffman, also with PRX since the beginning, will become the PRX CEO.
PRX and RadioPublic will collaborate on revenue models, technology and data.
